The Most Iconic Swimsuits

In summer time we are always looking for the latest trend of swimsuits to make sure we are as stylish as we can be. But how about looking back at previous swimsuit trends and what has become one of the most iconic swimsuits of all time?

Swimsuits were invented in the 18th century and has ever since evolved and changed shape throughout the years. But there are some swimsuits that has become iconic and somehow milestones in our fashion history.

The movies has brought a lot of these iconic swimsuits to our attention. Actress and sex symbol Brigitte Bardot made huge fuss in, The Girl In The Bikini , in 1952. She wore a white two-piece bikini in a simple design. Elizabeth Taylor played a mental patient, in Suddenly, Last Summer from 1959, who got disturbed after witnessing her cousin death.

In the film she wore a simple white tank swimsuit, which was a very eye-catching and hard to forget outfit. Ursula Andress was the very first Bond-girl in, Dr. No from 1962, who stepped out of the ocean wearing a white bikini with a belt and matching knife on the side. Annette Funicello was the original Disney star and played in Beach Party , in 1963.

Walt Disney has asked her not to wear any navel baring swimsuits in the film, so Annette ended up in this daring yet innocent piece. Raquel Welch wore a two-piece swimsuit made out of animal skin, in One Million Years B.C. from 1966, that no one could forget. Not to mention, the swimsuit never got wet during the film. The Charlies Angels star, Farrah Fawcett, arranged a photo shoot at her house to promote her career, in 1976. She got this red one-piece swimsuit from her wardrobe and even though the company didnt like the photo, the poster sold over 12 million copies, making this one of the most iconic swimsuits. Bo Derek looked close to perfection when she was wearing this nude one-piece swimsuit in the movie 10 , from 1979.

You probably remember the swimsuit that Princess Leia was wearing, after she got captured by Jabba the Hutt, in Return of the Jedi , in 1983. Actress Carrie Fisher became a sex symbol, after wearing this metal like bikini. Pamela Anderson became famous in the 90s series, Baywatch, wearing the classic red one-piece swimsuit with the high cuts. Halle Berry made her entrance as the Bond-girl in Die Another Day , wearing an orange bikini with a white belt and knife, in 2002. The bikini was a modern version of the one Ursula Andress wore. After the film, Into the Blue from 2005, Jessica Alba made a promo shoot for the film in an un-matched two-piece bikini.
